About “Mission STEAMpossible”
Teen inventor, Magnificent Quest, dreams of being an engineer on the first Mission to Mars, but when her brother is injured, she puts her dreams on hold. Determined to help, she and her self-designed sidekick “Dinobot” adapt space technology to strengthen his fragile arm. Through the magic of puppetry theatre, young audiences will discover how to apply science to unlock the mysteries of our universe; and how to use technology to solve the problems of our world.
Perform Virtual Experiments with Dr. Geek’s Lab!
Flying Cars! Secret Codes! Bionics! Robotics! Navigation!
Learn while you help design the future! Go from station to station participating in hands-on virtual experiments! The Doctor Geek’s Science Fair is comprised of five pavilions. Each one is dedicated to one element of STEAM. At the Science Pavilion Doctor Geek introduces a brief introduction to Bionics, how the fiction of bionics inspired the real science. Then the attending innovators get to outfit an Android with bionics by dragging and dropping from a list of options.
Plus, meet the Scientists!
Dr. Scott Viguié (a.k.a. Doctor Geek) holds two doctorate degrees and is an archaeologist, attorney, actor and author. Scott was one of the first to undergo extensive orthopedic surgery to compensate for cerebral palsy. These cutting edge techniques granted him the ability to walk, making him better … stronger … faster! So began a lifelong obsession with science, technology, and the science fiction that inspires them. Scott established Doctor Geek’s Laboratory and Doctor Geek’s Science Fair to encourage enthusiasm for innovation, working to bring the fictional world of tomorrow, one step closer to the reality of today.
